Farmhouse Favorites

Succiees! is what I call them but these plants are indestructible. If you do not have a green thumb, this is one plant you can buy, and you can not kill it. Well, I take that back you would have to try and destroy it. These plants are called succulents, and they will turn any house into a home. Having a little greenery in your house can bring the outdoors in, brighten up any home, and give just enough flavor to any space. They are inexpensive, and you can find them anywhere. Home Depot and Lowes have a vast assortment of these little guys. The key to making them beautiful is mixing them together in a cute container with this simple rule. One that makes a statement, one that is tall, and one that hangs.

One other thing to keep in mind is color. Choose colors that blend with or contrast with the colors of your home. Contrasting colors create a bold, dramatic look. Supplementary colors create harmony. Since most houseplants have a short bloom window, the color of the foliage is an important consideration. Also, choose contrasting textures for interest, especially if leaf color is similar. When leaf color is contrasting, similar textures may be a better choice.

These little babies love light so place them in an area that will receive tons of light and mist them once a week until the ground is wet.

Finding pieces that complete every space in your home can be difficult, but you can do it and not break the bank. TJ Maxx or Home Goods is a great place to start and is probably my favorite to find affordable pieces to fill your home.

Any wreath can give a warm welcome to friends and family in your home. These are around 15.00 at TJ Maxx, and they look so stinkin real. It will bring a pop of natural color to your space and can be the focal point in the room.

Arkansas Glass Container

If you don't know what this is, I will tell you! It is a must-have in any home. A Berkey water filter provides the ultimate in waterborne contamination removal. They are used worldwide to set the international standard for water filters used in clean or hostile filtration environments. Owning a Berkey Water Filter transforms your water into the best tasting, purest drinking water possible. All while using a natural method without the use of chemicals or complicated processes.

Yall seriously this thing makes your water taste amazing, and I know if filters all the crap out of our water. It is totally worth the investment. We have had ours for three years, and we use it daily. We use the Big Berkey, and it lasts the two of us all day. We usually fill it up every night.

One of my favs! A House of the Belonging sign. She truly encompasses the feel of a farmhouse with her many signs. She has quotes, scripture, and personalized signs. You can choose one for every area of your home. They are simple and make a statement.

A centerpiece does not have to break the bank! Using a simple apple juice jar can do the trick. I used a container from the Apple Barn where we purchased apple cider in a restaurant in Tennessee. This piece continually reminds us of one of our favorite vacation to the mountains. I simply used Lemon oils to remove all the stickers and to clean it up and make it shine. I bought a few pieces of cotton stems to complete the look.

I love using pieces of nature to decorate. It just brings a simple feel and a warm flavor to any area.
